‘Bipedantic’

On Friday I went to the opening of Eric’s new show. ‘Bipedantic’ at the
Craddock-Terry gallery, 901 Jefferson Street Lynchburg. (info@riverviews.net)
It was good to see Eric’s work in such a nice space and the work itself sparked a lively discussion on our drive home.
What perhaps remains etched in my mind is the repetitive circle patters on many surfaces of Eric’s newer work;
The large floor prints, the lace engraved wall rock pieces and the walking on water projection (although this work showed the wake of the walk I saw the similarities in the patterns).
I am reminded of watching insects landing on calm water surfaces and the rock art of past eons. Eric seems to have mapped unseen forces or movements of time.
The stone slippers offered a seeming contradiction of comfort and disaster. Are we weighed down by our desire for relaxation or is relaxing no comfort at all because we need to work?

Congratulations Eric, good show.

Why not blog?

Dear DARCers
I know that this is a busy time for most members but I thought a simple blog might be a way to share ideas or to get our feet wet so to speak.
